Ball Joint Hardware Replacement

(Ferris IS2000Z & IS2500Z Models with 52" Mower
Decks Only)
The hardware and spacers that secure the rear ball
joint (A, Figure 3) on the right hand front suspension
arm has to be replaced with the hardware and spacer
included with this kit. This change is necessary to
provide clearance for the blower unit and must be
completed before blower unit installation.
To replace the ball joint spacers and hardware:
1. Lower the front of the mower deck down onto
wooden blocks to relieve the tension on the front
deck hanger chains. Jack up the front of the
tractor frame until the weight is lifted off the front
caster wheels.
2. Remove the 3/4"-10 X 3-1/2" bolt (A, Figure 4)
and 3/4-16 nylon lock nut (B) that attaches the ball
joint (C) to the frame (D). Discard the bolt, and .75
X 1.75 X 1.00 spacer (E). Retain the .75 X 1.00 X
.25 spacer (F) and 3/4-16 nylon lock nut.
3. Install the new 3/4"-16 X 2-1/2" thin-headed bolt
(G), through the new .76 X 1.06 X .07 spacer
(H), the ball joint, the .75 X 1.00 X .25 spacer (F)
retained in step #2, the frame and secure using
the 3/4-16 nylon lock nut (B) previously removed.
