Step 2: inStallinG the WinG
❑ Slide the wing into the fuselage and line up the two outer marks with the
sides of the fuselage.
❑ When satisfied with the alignment, hold the front of the wing in place,
using a couple of T-Pins.
IMPORTANT The two outer marks that you drew should be even with
the sides of the fuselage. This will ensure that the wing is centered at
the front.
❑ With the front of the wing held in place and prevented from moving laterally,
carefully measure from each wing tip to the back edge of the fuselage sides
to verify that the wing is square to the fuselage. If the measurements are not
the same, carefully move the back of the wing right or left until they are.
❑ When satisfied with the alignment, draw a mark on the top of the wing,
next to each side of the fuselage, then use a couple of T-Pins to hold the
back of the wing in place.
❑ Once you're satisfied that the wing is centered and that it's square to the
fuselage, draw a line on each side of the wing where it meets the fuselage.
Do this on both the top and the bottom.
❑ Remove the wing from the fuselage, then carefully cut away the covering
material from inside the lines you drew. Remove the covering material from
both the top and the bottom of the wing.
IMPORTANT Be careful to cut only through the covering material. Try
not to cut down into the balsa structure.
