aPPENDIX C: TIME CODE ERROR MEssaGEs
"Fatal" errors are the ones considered serious enough to cause a synchronization
problem. They are reported on the front panel and activate the buzzer; "fatal" and
"non fatal"appear on the report, with their corresponding time code address.
Code Drop Out ("DROP OUT")
Code Stopped ("CODESTOP")
Repeated Frame ("REPEAT"):
Code Discontinuous ("DISCONT")
Invalid Code ("INVALID")
Video Loss ("VID-LOST")
Code Type Change ("TYPE CHG")
Drop Frame Change ("DF CHG")
Color Frame Change ("CF CHG")
Bad DF Number ("DF ERR")
Numeric Error ("CODE ERR")
Manual Reset ("RESET")
FATAL
Time code interruption of less than 1
second. Level has to fall below the
input threshold of -30dB
Time code interruption of 1 sec. minimum
Same frame address detected twice
consecutively
any non continuous address (either
ascending or descending)
Invalid code
any interruption in the video signal
Change in the time code type or
format
Drop Frame flag change
Color Frame flag change
a "00" or "01" frame was received
where there should have been a "02"
General numeric errors are detected
such as 32 fr, 25 hrs...
Manual reset (see 10.5)

If time code slips by more than 2 bits
with respect to video"V"drive

Reported if UB flag changes
Undefined User Status
Reported if the binary group flag bits are
in undefined combinations

was encoded in the user bits, these UB
changes are not reported
