External Alarms Port

The External Alarms port provides access to three pairs of alarm output contacts and four
alarm inputs. All alarm interfaces are rated for 5 VDC and 100 mA (source or sink). Each
alarm input can be configured with the following:
The alarm inputs must be associated with an alarm in order for them to be triggered.
Refer to the 7705 SAR OS Interface Configuration Guide, "Configuring Auxiliary Alarm
Card and Chassis External Alarm Parameters", for information on configuring the alarm
inputs.
You can display the status of the alarm inputs using the show>external-alarms>
input CLI command. Refer to the 7705 SAR OS Interface Configuration Guide for
examples of the alarm inputs display.
As well as configuring alarm inputs for settings such as alarm severity, the pins on the
external alarms connector can also be configured to trigger a log event with a configurable
severity. For information on configuring the log events on the pins, refer to the 7705 SAR OS
System Management Guide, "Event Control." To display the status of the log events, use the
show>chassis>environment command (see the 7705 SAR OS Basic System
Configuration Guide).
The port uses an HD-15 female connector. You must provide an appropriate cable configured
according to your alarm panel. Shielded cable must be used to maintain EMC compliance.
