The blower will run at a lower speed regard-
less of the airflow setting.
To switch on: make sure that the igni-
tion is off.
Press the , rocker switch up or
down.
The indicator lamp in the rocker switch
comes on.
To switch off: press the , rocker
switch up or down.
The indicator lamp in the rocker switch
goes out.

Residual heat is switched off automatically:
when you switch on the ignition
after about 30 minutes
if the battery voltage drops
if the coolant temperature is too low
Rear-compartment air conditioning
You can set the rear-compartment air con-
ditioning using:
the rear-compartment control panel
the rocker switches on the dashboard
control panel ( page 344), if this has
been set in COMAND ( page 218)

You cannot cool the rear compartment at
low outside temperatures or if you have switched
off the cooling function.

Automatic air conditioning

If the rear-compartment air conditioning is
set using COMAND ( page 218), the )
symbol appears in the rear-compartment control
panel display. You can then no longer set the
rear-compartment air conditioning using the
rear-compartment control panel.
To switch on automatic mode: press
rocker switch 4 up or down repeated-
ly until the "AUTO" mode is selected in
the display.
To switch off the rear-compartment
air conditioning: press rocker switch
4 up repeatedly until the "OFF" mode
is selected in the display.
To switch off automatic mode: press
rocker switch 4 down repeatedly until
the "MAN" mode is selected in the dis-
play.
Setting the temperature
The temperature can be set separately for
each side of the vehicle using temperature
tumbler switches 1 and 6.
To increase or reduce the tempera-
ture: press temperature tumbler
switch 1 or 6 upwards or down-
wards.
