– Thinly coat the outside diameter
of the oil seal with sealant, b 13.
– Slip the oil seal (1) over the
crankshaft and up against the
crankcase.
Note installed position:
Closed side of oil seal must face
outward.

: Use the press sleeve (1)
1108 893 2405 (2) to press home
the oil seal until it is flush with the
crankcase.
Install all other parts in the reverse
sequence.

Crankcase, Lower Half

– Remove the inner fan housing,
b 11.2
: Take out the screws (arrows).
: Lift away the engine pan (1).

: Clean the sealing faces (arrows)
on the cylinder and engine pan
with standard solvent-based
degreasant containing no
chlorinated or halogenated
hydrocarbons, b 13.
Do not take the crankshaft out of the
bearings because this will alter cam
gear timing, b 7.5.
: Check condition of oil seals (1)
and replace if damaged.
Install in the reverse sequence.
– Apply thin coating of sealant to
cylinder and engine pan sealing
faces, b 13.
: Fit the engine pan (1) in position.
: Tighten down the screws
(arrows) in a crosswise pattern.
Observe sequence and
tightening torque, b 3.4
Install all other parts in the reverse
sequence.
