1.3.1
RAID Controller and Interface
Each RAID controller comes with a pre-installed DIMM module.
The traditional battery backup is replaced with an innovative cache backup module
(CBM) that comprises a battery backup unit (BBU) and flash backup module (FBM).
Cached data is rapidly distributed to a FBM with the support of a BBU in the event of
a power outage. The shorter discharge time extends the BBU lifecycle, and ensures
that data is retained in Flash beyond the standard 72 hours. Furthermore, the super
capacity battery combined with FBM can support the preservation of cache data
beyond 72 hours.
The embedded firmware features intelligent algorithms for power-saving, variable fan
speeds, and exiled drive handling, ensuring this system is environmentally friendly.
1.3.2
JBOD Controller and Interface
The enclosure is managed by expander controllers that distribute data flow to
individual disk drives and report operating status through a proprietary enclosure
service via in-band protocols. The enclosure, along with other JBODs, connects to a
RAID system and serves as a building block for scalable configurations.
Regarding supported protocols, the firmware supports communication with enclosure
devices, SAS/SATA disk drives, and RAID systems that feature 6Gbps SAS expan-
sion ports.
Regarding physical connection, the SAS interface ensures convenient cabling via
mini-SAS connectors. With a backplane adapting SAS or SATA drives, the system
supports enterprise-class SAS, cost-effective SATA-II or SATA-III hard drives, and is
ideal for adding substantial capacity to a storage pool.
1.3.3
Power Supply Unit with Built-In Cooling Module
Regarding the 2U and 3U series, two cooling modules built into the power supply unit
(PSU) protect the system from overheating, while two hot swappable PSUs provide
constant power to the system. The system's modular design and accessibility of all
major components ensure easy maintenance.
