Product Overview
This manual introduces the ASR-5300I systems that support 3Gbps and 6Gbps SAS,
or 3Gbps (SATA-II) and 6Gbps (SATA-III) drive interfaces. The 2U/3U enclosure is
designed to utilize 2.5" or 3.5" hard drives. The drive capacity can be expanded by
attaching expansion hard drive enclosures (JBODs).
1.2
Model Variations
Regarding the differences between RAID and JBOD models, RAID systems are used
to store hard drives and control the entire storage system, whereas JBOD systems
are connected to a master RAID system and support storage expansion with the
addition of extra hard drives. All systems are compatible with SAS-3 and SAS-6, or
SATA-II and SATA-III hard drives. However, hard drive limitations may vary between
models.
