Layer 2 Commands

spanning-tree vlan

To configure Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) on a per-virtual LAN (VLAN) basis, use the spanning-tree vlan
command in global configuration mode. To return to the default settings, use the no form of this command.
spanning-tree vlan vlan-id [forward-time seconds| hello-time seconds| max-age seconds| priority priority|
[root {primary| secondary} [diameter net-diameter]]]
no spanning-tree vlan vlan-id [forward-time| hello-time| max-age| priority| root]

Command Default
Spanning tree is enabled on all VLANs.
Command Modes
Global configuration
OL-29043 -01
VLAN range associated with the spanning-tree instance. The range is 1 to
4094.
(Optional) Sets the STP forward delay time in second. The range is 4 to 30.
The default is 15.
(Optional) Specifies the duration, in seconds, between the generation of
configuration messages by the root switch. The range is 1 to 10.
The default is 2.
(Optional) Sets the maximum number of seconds the information in a bridge
packet data unit (BPDU) is valid. The range is 6 to 40.
The default is 20.
(Optional) Sets the STP bridge priority. The range is 0 to 61440 in increments
of 4096.
The default for the primary root switch is 24576.
The default for the secondary root switch is 28672.
(Optional) Forces this switch to be the root switch.
(Optional) Specifies this switch to act as the root switch should the primary
root fail.
(Optional) Specifies the maximum number of switches between any two
points of attachment of end stations. The range is 2 through 7.
