2.4.3 Hardware

D20 I/O peripherals consist of four distinct circuit blocks, as shown in Figure 27.
MCU CONTROL

SUPPLY
The fourth block, Input/Output, is specific to the function of the module. The circuit blocks are:
• MCU/Control: Performs data processing and storage, device addressing and system control.
Consists of an 8-bit microcontroller (MCU), address decoding, control signal generation,
clock generation, power monitor/reset, module ID and memory.
• Serial I/O: Consists of the D.20 communication and maintenance ports.
• Power Supply: Accepts an input voltage of 20 to 60 V DC, provided from either the host
D20 power supply or an external power source, and supplies a regulated output of +5 V and
+/-12 VDC.
• Input/Output: Controls and reads all digital or analog inputs, and controls and monitors all
digital outputs, as directed by the MCU.
