Perform a measuring campaign
6.6.8

End of a measuring campaign

A measuring campaign normally ends as soon as the first
Tensiometer value reaches the end of its measuring range. The
campaign does not stop automatically but must be stopped by the
user. Readings between the start and stop lines are used for the
evaluation. The Start and Stop lines* should be set by the user.
These lines can be changed manually by moving the lines with the
computer mouse.
*planned in future: the software recognizes the drop out of the Tensiometer
and sets the stop line at this point.
The drop out of a Tensiometer can easily be seen on both graphs of
the Tensiometer readings as the graph will have a steep rise
followed by a flat plateau or a strong drop to 85 kPa.

Remove the soil sample
1. Hold the whole assembly over a bowl or dish to assure that no soil
material is lost.
2. Unlock the fastener clips. Gently pull on the soil sampling ring to
take off the ring from the sensor head.
3. Take care not to lose any soil material because the accurate
sample weight is required for further calculations.
4. Clean the sampling ring and disc with water and the sensor head
with water and a soft brush or tissue.
6.6.10 Estimate the soil dry weight
Empty the soil sample into a bowl with known weight. Dry it in a
drying oven at 105°C for 24 hours and then weigh it again. The
difference in weight is the dry weight of the sample which is entered
in the field "Soil dry weight" for executing the evaluation (see
following chapter).
