3-2 Chassis Components
The chassis includes power supplies, rear I/O ports, expansion card slots and eight nodes.
Each node is a separate system containing a drawer with a serverboard, fans, and other
components. Each node may be removed from the chassis separately.
Installing and Removing the Node Drawers
The F418BC2 chassis contains eight individual motherboards in separate node drawers
(Figure 3-1). Each serverboard node controls a set of six hard drives. Note that if a serverboard
node drawer is pulled out of the chassis, the hard drives associated with that node will power
down as well.
Warning: Except for short periods of time, do not operate the server without the cover in place.
The chassis cover must be in place to allow for proper airflow and to prevent overheating.
