Overheating Due to Poor Condition
1.
Restrictions in radiator core or
engine water jacket.
Drain
system. Disconnect hoses andreverse
flush the radiator and block.
Fill cooling system to proper level.
Check for leaks.

2.
Lo,v coolant level.
Tighten pressure cap.
3.
Pressure cap loose -coolant
escaping.
Tighten if loose. Replace belt if
greasy, worn or damaged.
4.
Fan belt slipping or loose.
Overheating Due to External
Leakage
Replace defective hoses.
Check clamps
for fatigue and replace as required.
1. Defective hoses or connections.
Remove
radiator.
Test for leaks and
solder.
2.
Radiator leaks.
Check for leaks around water inlet and
outlet elbows and cylinder head. Replace
defective gaskets.
3.
Damaged gaskets.
Replace
cylinder head and gasket.
4. Cracked or wa~ed cylinder head.
Replace cylinder block.
5.
Cracked cylinder block.
Replace.
6.
Defective water inlet or outlet elbow. ..
Overheating Due to Internal Leakage
Replace cylinder head and gasket.
1.
Warped cylinder head.
Replace gasket.
(Check crankcase oil
for presence of water.)
2.
Blown cylinder head gasket.
