Adjacent Bin Averaging:
Adjacent Bin Averaging is also called Video Smoothing. This technique uses the adjacent-point averaging
to reduce the amount of fluctuation in the measured trace due to the noise. N points of a trace are averaged
together to produce each point. This reduces fluctuations in Noise and smoothes the trace. However, the
user has to apply good judgment over the amount of smoothing to be applied as excessive smoothing could
lead to loss of the desired information, with the waveform conveying nothing. Fig 18.2 displays the live
trace smoothed over 6 consecutive adjacent bins.
