The Honda IMA (Integrated Motor
Assist) System provides you with
better fuel economy. An electric
motor assists the vehicle's petrol
engine when accelerating, and
reduces the load on the engine to
improve the fuel economy. When
decelerating, the turning wheels
activate the electric motor, which
generates electric power to charge
the IMA battery. When you come to
stop, an auto idle stop function shuts
off the engine under certain
conditions (see page
229
).
The IMA battery's voltage is
extremely high (100 volts). This
battery is located under the luggage
area and there are no maintenance
tasks you can safely perform.
Consult your authorized dealer when
maintenance or repair is needed.
