    Getting started Baby unit battery installation You can power up the baby unit by connecting it to AC power or to the 1.5V AA batteries. Even if the baby unit is connected to AC power, we recommend you also install the 1.5V AA batteries.

Align the cover flat against the battery compartment, then slide it towards the center of the parent unit until it clicks into place.
