MEDIA UTILITY APPLICATIONS

Mbox Media Lock

Note: The Mbox Media Lock utility is only installed on the Mbox rental product. All of the stock movie, object and digital
gobo content on rental Mbox servers is locked and cannot be used on any other computer or media server.
The Mbox Media Lock application provides a way to lock (copy protect) custom content on the Mbox server. Media
Lock will work on .mov, .obj, and .svg files.
CAUTION!
Before going any further, please note that the only original copy of any content should never be locked!
Once content is locked, it can only be played on a rental Mbox server and not on any other computer! Only lock content
that is placed onto an Mbox!
Media Lock is based upon a username and password system. Once locked, content cannot be unlocked, and will only
play on another rental Mbox server that has the same username and password entered into the Media Lock application.
This means that content can be locked on one Mbox server and it will always be available to play on any Mbox server as
long as the same username and password is entered into the Media Lock application on that machine.
To lock content:
Step 1.
Locate the Mbox Media Lock application in the /Applications/Mbox v4 Utilities folder. Double-click icon to
launch the app.
Step 2.
On the Mbox Media Lock window, existing usernames (but not their passwords) can be viewed by clicking
the up/down arrow buttons on the right-hand side of the window.
CAUTION!
Do not remove any existing usernames as this may lead to the stock content becoming unplayable. There is
no undo function! Also, once content is locked, it cannot be unlocked.
Step 3.
To add a username and password to the system, type each into the appropriate box. Do not use spaces
or any punctuation marks in either field; use letters and numbers only. Capitalization does matter, so if in
doubt, do not capitalize anything.
Step 4.
Once a unique username and password has been entered, click the Add User button.
