CDDuring normal playback operation (TEST mode is OK)
(1) Is TOC reading normal?
Displays total time
for CD-DA.
Shifts to double-speed
mode for V-CD.
YES
(2) Playback possible?
(3) Others
Error frequently occurs in the middle to outer part of V-CD (even with discs containing no flaws).
Check the waveform of TE.
Does 700 to 900Hz wave exist?
(This problem depends on the disc combination. If this claim arises, borrow the problem
disc.)
Caused by resonance of mechanical unit. Replace the mechanical unit.
NO
Because TEST mode is OK, CLV control must be available.
Does pulse frequently occur on IC354"18" during
TOC reading?
If occurs, IC354 is defective.
Check that signal from IC354"36" (SUBQ), "37" (SQCK)
and "47" (STAT) is correctly input to IC351.
NO
*
--:-- is displayed during FL search.
According to [ * Cannot search ] for DVD, check the feed
and tracking systems.
*
No sound is output although the time is displayed.(CD-DA)
DAC, etc., other than servo.
*
The passage of time is not stable, or picture is
abnormal.(V-CD)
Jitter measurement or error rate measurement.
With IC354"17" (FLAG) connected to a frequency counter,
play back the 1st program of CTS-1000 on a 1-second
gate. OK when the indication of the counter is 10 to 20.
If the indication is 50 to 100, the mechanical unit may
be defective.
(Counter indication must be 7.35kHz during stop.)
When error rate is OK, fine flaws are probably the
cause.
Check that signal is input from IC301"61" to IC354"61" (DO).
When above check is OK, some system other than the servo
seems to be defective.
