Troubleshooting when error code is displayed in TEST mode
Single-layer DVD
(Basically the same with double-layer DVD)
Remove the top cover.
While pressing both the "ON
SCREEN" key and "DVD
MENU" key, connect the AC
Press the "POWER" key.
Some
component
NO
other than
servo may be
defective.
"OPEN/CLOSE" key.
Check points for each error
(1) Spindle start error

Defective spindle motor
•EWith the power turned off, measure the resistance between CN101"33", "34" and "35" pins.
(Must be approx. 11ohms.)
•EHall element: Is a sine wave output between CN101"25" and "27", between "28" and "29",
•@and between "30" and "31" during rotation?
In either case, replace the mechanical unit.

Defective spindle driver (IC252)
•EIs a driving wave output from CN101"33", "34" and "35"?
During
rotation
Is IC252"1" at "H" level (START)?

Servo IC
TP256: Duty is 50% during stop, but varies during rotation (greatly varies at start).
If not sent, pattern or servo IC (IC301) is defective.
W004: Approx. 2.5V during stop, but varies during rotation (greatly varies at start).
If not sent, pattern or servo IC (IC301) is defective.

Is FG input to servo IC?
Observe FG wave from IC301"45".
Automatic adjustment
cord to the outlet.

Insert single-layer

"OPEN/CLOSE" key.
