Troubleshooting

If you are having a problem with your unit, check this list for a possible solution before calling for service.
If you cannot solve the problem from the hints given here, or the unit has been physically damaged, call a qualified person,
such as your dealer, for service.
Symptom
The disc does not play.
The disc play is skipped.
Loaded discs cannot be ejected.
Unable to record on a CD-R or CD-RW.
No sound is heard while recording.
Unable to operate the remote control.
The clock is flashing on the display.
Operations are disabled.
IMPORTANT
• If you are going to record something important, always test-record first to check that the recording turns out properly before
proceeding with the actual recording.
• The manufacturer assumes no liability whatsoever for any damage resulting from missed opportunity or accidental erasure
that occurs while conducting recording or playback operations due to malfunctioning of or trouble in the unit, or for any
incidental damage.

Possible Cause
• The disc is loaded upside down.
• Data CD-ROM is loaded.
The disc is dirty or scratched.
• AC power cord is unpluged.
• Tray Lock is in use.
• Finalized CD-R or CD-RW is loaded.
• Selecting MP3 tracks for recording.
• Digital recording is tried to perform
from a digitally dubbed disc.
• The disc is loaded upside down.
• Disc is dirty or scratched.
High-speed recording is selected.
• The path between the remote control
and the remote sensor on the unit is
blocked.
• The batteries have lost their charge.
AC power cord is unpluged or power
failure occurs.
The built-in microprocessor has
malfunctioned due to external electrical
interference.
Action
• Load the disc with the label side up.
• Data CD-ROM cannot be played
back. Replace the disc.
Clean or replace the disc. (See page
41.)
• Plug in the AC power cord.
• Unlock Tray Lock. (See page 15.)
• CD-R:
Replace the disc.
CD-RW: Unfinalize the disc.
(See page 34.)
• Cannot record MP3 tracks. Replace
the disc.
• Select analog recording. (See page
22.)
• Load the disc with the label side up.
• Clean or replace the disc. (See page
41.)
Select normal speed. (See page 25.)
• Remove the obstruction.
• Replace the batteries. (See page 6.)
Set the clock and timer again.
Unplug the unit then plug it back in.
