9.2 Identifying and repairing faults

Fault
The wheelchair does not travel
in a straight line
The wheelchair tips backwards
too easily
The brakes are gripping poorly
or asymmetrically
Rolling resistance is very high
The front wheels wobble when
moving fast
The front wheel is stiff or stuck

Incorrect tire pressure on one rear wheel
One or more spokes broken
Spokes tightened unevenly
Front wheel bearings are dirty or damaged
Rear wheels are mounted too far forwards
Back angle too large
Incorrect tire pressure in one or both rear tires
Brake setting incorrect
Tire pressure in rear tires is too low
Rear wheels not parallel
Too little tension in front wheel bearing block
Front wheel has worn smooth
Bearings are dirty or faulty
Action
