Cylinder Head Installation
Install the dowel pins.
Install the new cylinder head gasket with its"UP"mark
facing up and locating tab facing rearward.
(1) DOWEL PINS
(2) "UP" MARK/TAB
(3) CYLINDER HEAD GASKET

Install the cylinder head and nuts, tighten the nuts to
the specified torque.
TORQUE: 20 lbf ft (27 N m, 2.8 kgf

NOTE:
•
Tighten the cylinder head nuts in a criss-cross
pattern in 2 or 3 steps.
(1) CYLINDER HEAD (2) CYLINDER HEAD NUTS
Install the spark plug and spark plug cap.
Install the hanger plate and tighten the bolts.
m) TORQUE:

Engine side:
Frame side:
Connect the radiator hose to the cylinder head.
Pour the recommended coolant mixture into the radia-
tor up to the correct level (page 21).
(1) RADIATOR HOSE (2) HANGER PLATES
(3) SPARK PLUG
Check for the following:
— compression leaks
— abnormal engine noise
— coolant leaks
NOTE:
•
After installing the radiator hose, check that it is not
interfering with the ignition coil.
40 lbf ft (54 N m, 5.5 kgf m)
