5.0 Using Revolution
®
The Revolution
utility provides a suite of functions used to support configuration, calibration, customizing and
backup of the 880 software. Hardware and software configuration, stream and ticket formatting, and database
management are all supported by Revolution.
Calibration values, scale configuration, database tables, and user programs, can be both saved and restored to the
880 using Revolution.
The Rice Lake Web Update utility uses your internet connection to check for and download updates to the
Revolution and 880 software.

2 GB hard drive space (64 bit)

Microsoft Windows

5.1
Connecting to the Indicator
Connect the PC serial port to the COM (COM 1), USBCOM (COM 2) or EtherNet port of the 880, then click
in the toolbar. Revolution attempts to establish communications to the indicator. If communications

settings need to be adjusted, select
Indicator must be set to DEMAND mode when using Revolution. Revolution will then auto detect the indicator

If Revolution does not detect indicator check to make sure the cables are correctly connected.
If Revolution displays a Version Error, the indicator version of software does not match the module used in Revolution. A
connection can be forced, but some parameters may not be enabled if they were not originally supported in that module.
5.2
Configuration
5.2.1 New Configuration File
1. To build a new configuration file, start the Revolution program.
2. Click the
button.
NEW
3. Choose the 880 file type to give the new file the appropriate .880 file extension.
4. Give the new file a name by highlighting and replacing the default asterisk in the file name field.
5.2.2 Opening an Existing Configuration File
1. To open an existing configuration file, start the Revolution program.
2. Click the
Edit Configuration File
3. Choose the 880 file type to view all existing 880 configuration files.

1. Once you have set all parameters needed in your configuration file, you need to save the file for download
