4.4.4 (Optional) Retaining the Original TTL Value

Context
After packets are distributed at Layer 3, the TTL of the packets is decreased by 1; therefore, the
contents of the packets are changed. To ensure the same contents of packets before and after
traffic distribution, you need to configure the Switch to retain the original TTL value after packets
are forwarded at Layer 3.
Do as follows on the Switch where the original TTL value needs to be retained.
Procedure
Step 1 Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
Step 2 Run:
interface gigabitEthernet interface-number
The GE interface view is displayed.
Step 3 Run:
set ttl unvaried
The Switch is configured to retain the original TTL value after packets are forwarded at Layer
3.

4.4.5 Checking the Configuration

Prerequisite
The configurations of traffic distribution based on ECMP are complete.
Procedure

Issue 01 (2011-07-15)
By default, IPv4 packets are load balanced based on the source and destination IP
addresses.

Run:
quit
Return to the system view.
5.
Run:
ecmp load-balance enhanced profile profile-name
The ECMP profile is applied.
Run the display ecmp-profile [ profile-name ] command to check the configuration of the
ECMP profile.
