4.4.3 Configuring ECMP

Context
Because of high link bandwidth on the backbone network, a packet analysis device cannot
analyze or process a large amount of traffic. The traffic distribution device can perform load
balancing by means of ECMP and distributes the traffic to multiple packet analysis devices for
processing so that the distributed traffic can be processed by the packet analysis devices.
Do as follows on the Switch where ECMP needs to be configured.
Procedure

l
Issue 01 (2011-07-15)
Configure static routes. For details, see the IP Static Route Configuration in the Quidway
S7700 Smart Routing Switch Configuration Guide - IP Routing.
Configuring ECMP
1.
Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
2.
Run:
ecmp load-balance { diffluence | sip [ dip ] [ port ] }
ECMP is configured.
By default, ECMP is performed based on the source IP address.
NOTE
Only the E-series boards and X12SA boards support the ecmp load-balance diffluence
command and need to be configured with the license.
Equal Cost Multi-path (ECMP) load balancing based on traffic distribution and monitoring
configured by the ecmp load-balance diffluence command cannot be used with the Load
balancing based on traffic distribution and monitoring on the Eth-Trunk configured by the
load-balance diffluence command. Otherwise, the system displays an error message.
Configuring enhanced ECMP
1.
Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
2.
Run:
ecmp-profile profile-name
An ECMP profile is created and the ECMP profile view is displayed.
3.
Run:
ipv4 field [ sip ] [ dip ] [ vlan ] [ l4-sport ] [ l4-dport ] [ protocol ]
[ sport | dport ]
The load balancing mode of IPv4 packets is specified in the ECMP profile.
