PROGRAMMING DSC OPTIONS

PROGRAMMING THE DSC ID (MMSI)

It is not possible to compose or transmit a DSC
call until the MMSI ID is programmed. Issued
by the FCC, this number is unique for every
vessel. If the ID has never been programmed,
the operator will be prompted to do so when the
radio is turned on.
To program the MMSI ID press

The current MMSI number will be shown and
the number of times the number may be
changed. The number can only be entered
twice by the operator. If the number must be
changed after being entered twice, contact an
authorized SEA GMDSS dealer for service.
The group DSC ID number may be changed at
any time and is selected at random by the group
of stations using the group number. When
several stations share the same group number, a
single call may be transmitted to all of the
stations by using the group number.
The current group number is shown after the
current MMSI number is displayed. The
operator is prompted to change the group ID
number and confirm the new number is correct.
