GMDSS CLASS A CALLS

GEOGRAPHICAL AREA CALLS

To send an All Ships call to a specific
rectangular geographical area, select GEOAREA
with
DSC
8
Prompts will ask for the area's NW (top left)
corner in Latitude and Longitude format.
Prompts for the lower right corner will then
asked. The lower right corner can be up to 99
degrees from the reference (top left) corner.
The operator will be prompted to choose a
priority category or level of importance for the
call to be transmitted.
After selecting the priority category, select the
form of communications the receiving station
should use when responding to this call (TC1).
The secondary telecommand prompt (TC2) gives
details to clarify the TC1 selection.
After the TC2 option is selected, the operator is
prompted to include the position with the call,
switch to another working channel after the call
is transmitted, or no other information.
