DSC OPERATIONS
Pressing the
DSC
display the primary DSC menu. The menu
selections available are used for reviewing
received calls, programming station Ids, and
transmitting the different DSC formats. Please
see the individual sections for complete details.
Most calls will conform to one of the five
predefined formats which have a simplified
calling procedure:
Routine individual calls may be selected with

Routine individual calls on an alternate
calling channel are selected with

Distress relay calls may be placed with

If a call is to be placed to all ships for warning
purposes, use

allows placing a telephone

call through an operator.
For those calls that do not fit one of the
mentioned categories,
allow the operator to compose CLASS A
formats. Class A formats allow all call types to
be generated, including geographic area calls,
group calls, nonvoice (fax and data) calls,
position requests, and polls.
RADIO
The
key can be used to abort the DSC
call at any point in the process and return to the main radio display.
