GMDSS CLASS A CALLS
DETAILS OF A "CLASS A" CALL
Telecommand 1 (TC1) is defined as the form of communications the receiving
station should use to respond with after receiving the call. The choices for TC1 or
responses expected are:
F3E SPX
FM voice communications using simplex.
F3E DPX
FM voice communications using full duplex.
F1B FEC
FSK digital communications using automatic
reception of FEC telegraphy.
F1B ARQ
FSK digital communications using automatic
reception of ARQ telegraphy.
CANT DO Unable to Comply with request.
DATA
FAX or MODEM data.
F1B TTY
FSK digital communications using automatic
reception of TTY telegraphy.
F1B TTYR FSK digital communications using automatic
reception of TTY telegraphy - receive only.
FAX
Facsimile.
NO INFO
No additional information needed for response.
Additional TC1 options for Distress priority categories and Individual, Group or Phone format types:
DST ACK
All Ships format using Distress priority category to send a Distress Acknowledgment.
DST REL
All Ships, Geoarea, Individl and Group format types using Distress priority category to
send a Distress Relay.
POLLING Individual and Group format types to test if a station is present or able to receive.
POSITION Individual, Group and Phone format types to retrieve a stations position.
END CALL Phone Call formats only.
Telecommand 2 (TC2) gives details to clarify the TC1 selection.
The available TC2 options when the selected
TC1 option started with "F" or NO INFO are:
NEUTRAL A non warring vessel or neutral party.
MEDICAL A medical transport vessel.
NO INFO
No additional information needed for response.
The CANT DO TC1 selection has 10 TC2
options to explain why the station is unable to
comply with (cant do) a received DSC call.
NO RESN
No reason given.
CONGEST
The channel is congested.
BUSY
Phone number is busy.
QUEUE
Queue.
BARRED
Restricted from use.
NO OP
No operator present.
OPUNAVL
Operator is unavailable.
DISABLE
Equipment is disabled.
BADCHAN
The requested channel is not valid or not
available.
BADMODE
The communications mode given is not valid
or not available.
