SAFETY FEATURES

This heater is equipped with several devices and features for added protection:
• A tip-over switch that disables the heater if accidently tipped over.
• A high temperature safety device (Hi-Limit) prevents overheating.
• A back-up thermal circuit breaker that will permanently shut down the heater should it operate at
higher than normal temperatures.
• A SafeGuard
Alert Heat Indicator Badge that indicates the grille is hot and should not be touched -
turns from black to red.
• A heavy duty power cord and three-prong grounded plug.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If your heater shuts off unexpectedly or fails to operate, one of your heater safety
features may have been activated to prevent overheating. If this happens:
• Be sure the heater is plugged in and the electrical outlet is working.
• This heater is equipped with a tip-over switch safety feature which
automatically shuts-off the heater if it is not in an upright position.
The heater will turn on again when it is properly oriented.
• Be sure Heating Bulb is properly positioned in top and bottom socket
connectors.
• Make sure Grille is properly installed with screws securely tightened.
• Make sure the manual re-set button has not been activated. The function of this feature is that if the
heater is overheating, the unit will automatically turn off. To turn the heater back on, push the re-set
button (Fig. 11).
• Make sure the base legs have been properly installed. If not, the tip-switch will activate and the unit
will not turn on.
