    Description General device description The SPIDER-PL devices are designed for the special requirements of industrial automation. They meet the relevant industry standards, provide very high operational reliability, even under extreme conditions, and also long-term reliability and flexibility. The devices allow you to set up switched industrial Ethernet networks that conform to the IEEE 802.3 standard.

    Grounding the device Prerequisite:  Use a wire diameter for the ground conductor that is no smaller than the diameter of the supply voltage connection, however of at least 0.5 mm² (AWG20). Proceed as follows:  Ground the device via the ground screw. The grounding screw is located on the topside as shown in the illustration.

    Installing an SFP transceiver (optional) Prerequisite:  Use only Hirschmann SFP transceivers which are suitable for usage with the device. See “Accessories” on page 48. Proceed as follows:  Remove the protection cap from the SFP transceiver.  Push the transceiver with the lock closed into the slot until it latches in.
