(3) Connect the other end of the negative (–)
jumper cable to an engine hanger.
NOTICE: Be sure all connections are
secure and correct before attempting
to start the engine. Any wrong con-
nection may damage the electrical
system.

(4) Start the engine, and then disconnect the
jumper cables by reversing the above
steps. NOTICE: Do not turn the starter
motor for more than 5 seconds. If the
engine does not start in 5 seconds, re-
lease the main switch and try again af-
ter 15 seconds. Continuous cranking
for more than 5 seconds will dis-
charge the battery and the engine will
not start. The starter motor may also
be damaged if it is engaged continu-
ously for more than 5 seconds.

Fuse replacement

WARNING
Do not use fuses of a higher amperage
than recommended. Substitution with a
fuse that has an improper rating can cause
extensive electrical system damage and
possible fire.
If a fuse is blown, replace it with the proper

fuse.
To replace a fuse:
(1) Open the engine hood. (See page 50.)
(2) Remove the fuse holder cap.

(3) When replacing an accessory fuse, re-
move the accessory fuse holder.
