Apply engine oil to
the lock nut threads
and seating sur-
face.
the valve clearance
while the engine is
cold (below 35"C/
95 "F)
by hmsmbg the I Q C ~ nut
adjusting screw until there is a slight drag on the
feeler gauge.
TOOLS:
Tappet adjusting wrench, 4 m m 07908-KE90100
Tappet lock wrench 07908-MB00100
Hold the adjusting screw and tighten the lock nut to
the specified torque.
TORQUE: 23 N-m (2.3 kgf.m, 17 1bf.f-t)
After tightening the lock nut, recheck the valve
clearance.
Coat new 0-rings with oil and install them into the
timing and crankhaft hole cap grooves.
Apply engine oil to the timing and crankshaft hole
cap threads.
Install the timing hole cap and tighten it to the spec-
TORQUE: 10 N-m (1.0 kgf.m,

Install the crankshaft hole cap and tighten
it
t o the
specified torque.
TORQUE: 15 N-m (1.5 kgfem, 11 Ibf-ft)
Install the cylinder head cover (page 9-33).
Remove the timing and crankshaft hole caps.
Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise and align
the "RT" mark on the flywheel with the index notch
on the left crankcase cover.
Make sure the piston is at TDC (Top Dead Center) on
the compression stroke.
