- Page 5 Never force the umbrella to open. Damage resulting from failure to properly install the spacer buttons, and repairs resulting from not having eight spacer buttons inserted at all times is not covered by your Shademaker Warranty.
- Page 6 3. Screw the white plastic spacer buttons into the pre-drilled holes on the arms of your Shademaker umbrella. They are located just below the connection point of the arms. After you installed the spacer buttons and you have installed your base plate(s), adapter plate (if using a mount kit or steel base plate), or have set up your base, you are ready to install your umbrella.

This technique is similar to the way a parachute is folded and is especially important when folding the canopy for seasonal storage or when left in the closed position for an extended period of time.
