RIGGING OPTION 3: GROUND STACKED MLA MINI ARRAY WITH
SEPARATE MSX SUB(S)
An alternative method of rigging four- and eight-MLA Mini arrays is to mount them directly onto
the Ground Stack Baseplate using the Flying Frame. In this situation, the MSX subs – either one
or two per side depending on array size – will be positioned alongside the arrays. In the case of
eight-cabinet arrays, the two MSX subs can either be stacked or positioned next to each other,
but not with one on each side of the MLA Mini array.
The rigging procedure is very similar to that used for Rigging Option 2.
Step 1: Refer to the diagram on the Ground Stack Baseplate membrane; note there are two
possible mounting positions for the Flying Frame. A rig of four Minis will always use the pair of
slots nearer the front of the baseplate. A rig of eight Minis may use either of the two slot pairs,
the correct position to use will be defined by Display 2.2. Attach the Flying Frame on the Ground
Stack Baseplate as shown and secure with four Flying Pins.
Step 2: The angle between the Flying Frame and the bottom Mini will be defined by Display 2.2
and set physically by a Ground Stack Bar. If the required angle is in the range -4° to +4°, use the
Short Ground Stack Bar, if the angle is outside this range, use the Long Ground Stack Bar. Fit
the lower end of the bar into the Flying Frame at the correct mark and secure with a Flying Pin.
