Troubleshooting Guide

Below are some general guides should a problem be detected. Please refer to the test procedures in this
manual to determine the defective component.
Problem
Nothing operates
Surface burner igniter
inoperable–no sparking
Igniters spark, but no
flame
Igniters spark continuously
after ignition
Burner ignites but flame is
large, distorted, yellow

Probable Cause
Wiring
Breaker
Debris/soil on igniter
Igniter wire
Single point spark module
Gas supply valve
Gas supply interrupted
Power supply is not grounded
Reversed polarity
Wet/dirty igniters
Debris/soil on igniter
Conversion problem
Wrong type gas
Correction
Repair or replace wiring as needed
Reset breaker
Clean igniter and remove debris
Repair/replace wire
Test module
Verify gas supply/valve is on
Check pressure regulator
Verify ground
Verify proper polarity
Dry/clean igniters
Clean burner head
Verify conversion is complete
Verify gas type is proper for range setting
(LP or Natural)
