    (using Ver- sion 5.6 software). The VND-970IP delivers up to 30 fps. This IP camera is a high-resolution color model that offers an MPEG-4 open platform and can be powered by a 12 VDC power supply (provided) or Power over the Ethernet (PoE).

Be sure the area around the selected location is clear of obstacles (such as steel beams, headers, pipes, electrical wiring, etc.) which would interfere with the mounting of the camera and that the location can support the weight of the unit [the VND-970IP unit weighs 1.3 lb (0.6 kg)]. Route all necessary cables to the installation location.

  • Page 12 After all camera/lens adjustments have been completed, attach the dome cover to the camera dome mechanism. Secure the two dome screws with the screwdriver.     DHCP server. Refer to Appendix for instructions on locating cameras with unknown IP addresses. Network Settings The default IP address of the VND-970IP camera dome is 192.168.0.100. Make sure the IP camera and your PC are on the same network subnet mask (segment) before attempting to access the camera. Be sure to make a note of the PC’s IP address before it is changed.
  • Page 14 After logging in, the Main screen previews the video and provides access to configuration functions. The VND-970IP has many configurable features. This section highlights only those features that are relevant to ViconNet. If the camera is not being used with ViconNet, refer to Appendix A for additional settings.

  • Page 16 “Use fixed IP address”; then the camera will skip installation at the next boot. The camera supports both DHCP and static IP addresses; Vicon recommends a fixed IP address for easier manageability. The camera can automatically restart and operate normally after a power outage.
  • Page 17 “RTCP port for audio”- The audio channel port for RTCP. It must be the port number of audio RTP plus 1. This is not applicable for ViconNet. User can modify Multicast settings for stream1 and stream2 (Vicon recommends keeping the default values): “Always multicast”- Select it to always enable multicast.

    Adding Camera to the ViconNet System The I-ONYX VND-970IP camera will not automatically show up on the site list. It must be added to the Vi- conNet system. Unlike non-ViconNet cameras, this camera does not require a third party license to be used in the system.

    The information in this appendix is intended to explain how to use the Installation Wizard that is on the CD provided with the camera. This utility is similar to VNSetup on Vicon cameras. Vicon recommends that this utility be used only as a tool to find an unknown IP address for a camera and to upgrade the firmware.

    Appendix C Upgrade Firmware If you were instructed by Vicon technical support to update the camera firmware, obtain the upgrade files from Vicon and follow these steps: Go to the Maintenance screen under Configuration. Go to the Upgrade firmware field and use Browse to locate the upgrade files.

    Maintenance The I-ONYX VND-970IP Cameras require no scheduled maintenance except for the occasional cleaning of the lower dome. Care and Cleaning of Lower Dome The inside surface of the smoked (gray-tinted) dome is easily scratched. Take the following precautions to maintain the dome’s surface.
