Before Downloading the software image (.Z) File
If you must issue the file/download command, do so only when the source of the download
file is currently answering a ping command and there is no immediate concern about
unscheduled power outages. This situation is a cause for concern because a problem can
arise when there is insufficient Flash space to hold a backup copy of the downloaded software
image (.Z) file. When this occurs, the Secure Router prompts for approval to continue.
However, if power fails or there are network problems during the file download, the Secure
Router may not be able to boot from flash because the file may be incomplete or corrupt. If
this occurs, you can boot using TFTP.
Note:
The following example shows generic software filenames for the SR3120 upgrade. Be sure
to enter the appropriate filenames for the router you are upgrading. See the Release Notes
for details.

and the TFTP server holding the new file. You can ping the server from the Secure
Router to prove connectivity.
For example, a typical sequence might consist of downloading all files to the main
board:
Router>file
Router/file>download 10.10.1.1 software/<software-image>.Z
<software-image>.Z
After you receive the Download successful message:
Router/file>download 10.10.1.1 software/<boot-image>.bin
<boot-image>.bin
In these commands, replace <software-image>.Z and <boot-image>.bin with the
correct file names for your Secure Router.
