NOTICE
Do not pull out the starter rope all the
way – it might otherwise break.
Do not let the starter grip snap back.
N
Guide it slowly back into the housing
so that the starter rope can rewind
properly.
When the engine begins to fire:
Move the choke lever to e and
N
continue cranking.
As soon as the engine runs
Open the throttle wide – the slide
N
control moves to the normal run
position (F) and the engine can then
return to idle speed.
Stopping the engine
Move the slide control to 0 or STOP.

Other hints on starting
At very low outside temperatures –
warm up the engine
As soon as the engine runs:

Allow engine to run in starting
N
throttle position for about 10
seconds.
Open the throttle wide – the slide
N
control moves to the normal run
position (F) and the engine can then
return to idle speed.
If the engine does not start
If you did not turn the choke lever to e
quickly enough after the engine began to
fire, the combustion chamber is flooded.
Set the choke lever to e – even if
N
the engine is cold.
Now start the engine with a few
N
brisk pulls of the starter rope.
If fuel tank has been run completely dry
and then refueled
Press the fuel pump bulb at least
N
five times – even if the bulb is filled
with fuel.
Now start the engine.
N

Cleaning the Air Filter

The unit is equipped with either a felt or
paper filter element.
If there is a noticeable loss of engine
power

Turn the choke lever to g
N
Take out the screw (1).
N
Remove the filter cover (2).
N
Clean away loose dirt from around
N
the filter.
Remove the filter element (3).
N
Fit a new filter element. As a
N
temporary measure you can knock it
out on the palm of your hand or blow
it out with compressed air. Do not
wash.
Install the filter element.
N
Fit the filter cover.
N
Insert the screw and tighten it down
N
firmly.
