No asynchronous (real-time) transfer of CDRs occurs until the system receives a
l
command with the Mode flag set to Y.
Changing the CDR Configuration immediately affects the size of the CDR records
l
transmitted, except when CDRs are being sent from an already generated file. In this case,
data changes with the next CDR request (Mode = N) or before the next auto CDR (Mode =
Y).
Auto CDRs sent after midnight reflect the new date in the MMMDD and the sequence
l
number is reset to 00000 in the NNNNN prefix of the transmitted auto CDR records. The
date and sequence number of a CDR reflect the start time of the call. Thus, CDRs
generated after midnight may have a mix of sequence numbers and dates, because the
system generates records as calls disconnect. For example, a thirty-minute call started 07/
26/99 at 23:45 ends the following day (07/27/99) at 00:15. The CDR date is 07/26/99 and
the sequence number is pre-00000, as illustrated in the sample CDR printout shown in
Figure
30.

Preparing for Real-Time Export

Before you begin exporting real-time files, do the following:
1. Define a listen port on the system.
To permit automatic CDRs, the system needs a port number on which to listen for . You can
define this port as any number greater than or equal to 5000 that does not conflict with other
port numbers in the /etc/services file.
The service name of this port is Auto CDR. Both the system and the host computer must
include an Auto CDR entry in the /etc/services file. For example, the following command
string adds the Auto CDR entry to the system where <service number> represents some
value between 5000 and 65536:
autocdr <service number>/tcp
where the white space between autocdr and <service number> is a tab character. A
different service number may be used, as long as it is greater than 5000 and not used for
any other service on the bridge; it must be named "autocdr" and it must be of type "tcp".
Consult your TCP/IP documentation for the location of the /etc/services file on your host
system.
Note:
Avaya service personnel configure the Auto CDR option during system
Note:
installation. Contact them, if you have any questions; for example, if you need to
change the TCP/IP port assignment.
2. Configure the system for automatic CDRs.
Select Administrator Menu > Configurations > System Configuration. Specify the LAN
option. Press
and then press
,
ESC
Y
to save this change and exit.
