How to Reheat Several
Different Types of Foods
Together
When heating several different
types of food together, foods which
should be served hot must be
placed on the oven floor, while
foods which are only warmed
should be placed on the shelf. This
is because microwave energy
enters the oven from the bottom
remember that foods absorb
microwave energy at different
rates. Rates can be affected by the
size of the food, and its starting
temperature.
Because of the varying rates,
I
you may need to start reheating
large or more dense foods a fcw
minutes ahead of time, then add
other smaller or less dense I'()()ds.
Alternately, if one of the foods y(~[l
are heating seems undercooked bu
the others are heated stitisfactori Iy
let the underheated food cent iiluc'
cooking.
Heat or reheat different types {)1'
food at High ( I ()). To determine
heating times, add times for all
foods together. (See heating guide
in cookbook. ) After halt of time,
stir or rearrange foods (do not
reverse positions). Check Ioods
(floor especially) after 3/4 01 tt)[al
time and remove any which arc
done. Continue cooking others.
Place on floor large or dense
foods which need the mos[
heating, such as leftover tried
chicken, casseroles of canned or
leftover vegetables, rice or p~lsta.
Place on shelf those foods whicl]
need only be warmed, such as
bakery pies, rolls, muffins or-
breads.
Pop popcorn on the microwave
oven floor only. Popcorn placed
on the oven shelf will not pop
properly. Use a special micr"owa\c
popcorn accessory or popcorn
labeled for use in micr-owave
ovens.
