Important: Never attempt to clean the
safety filter (Figure 48). Replace the safety
filter with a new one after every three
primary filter services.
4. Replace the primary filter (Figure 47).
5. Insert the new filter by applying pressure to
the outer rim of the element to seat it in the
canister. Do not apply pressure to the flexible
center of the filter.
6. Clean the dirt ejection port located in the
removable cover. Remove the rubber outlet
valve from the cover, clean the cavity and
replace the outlet valve.
7. Install the cover orienting the rubber outlet
valve (Figure 46) in a downward position -
between approximately 5:00 to 7:00 when
viewed from the end. Secure the latch.
Servicing the Engine Oil and
Filter
Change the oil and filter initially after the first 50
hours of operation; thereafter change the oil and
filter every 150 hours.
1. Remove either drain plug (Figure 49) and let
the oil flow into a drain pan. When the oil
stops, install the drain plug.

2. Remove the oil filter (Figure 50). Apply a light
coat of clean oil to the new filter seal before
screwing it on. Do not overtighten.

3. Add oil to the crankcase; refer to Checking the
Engine Oil.
