Brake Maintenance

Servicing the Brake

Before each use, check brakes on both a level surface
and slope.
Always set the parking brake when you stop the machine
or leave it unattended. If the parking brake does not
hold securely, an adjustment is required.
Checking the Parking Brake
Service Interval: Before each use or daily
1. Park the machine on a level surface, disengage the
PTO.
2. Stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all
moving parts to stop before leaving the operating
position.
3. Release the brake. The brake bars should lift off
the tires and the hand lever should travel forward to
the end of the slot in the control panel. Adjust the
brake if needed.
4. Engage the brake lever until the brake bars first
contact the tire (Figure 63).
5. Measure the gap from the front of the hand lever
to the end of the slot in the control panel when the
brake bar contacts the tire. This measurement needs
to be 3/4 inch (19 mm). Adjust the brake if needed
(Figure 63).
