5. Check the front-to-rear pitch of the cutting unit.
6. If the dimensions are not correct, adjust the front
and rear nuts on either side to get the correct
front-to-rear pitch (Figure 87).

Matching Height of Cut
1. Check the rear tire pressure.
2. Set the height-of-cut to the 3 inch (7.6 cm) position.
Refer to Adjusting the Height-Of-Cut in Operation.
3. With the machine on level surface, position one blade
front-to-rear. Measure at A and from level surface to
the cutting edge of the blade tips (Figure 88).

4. The measurement should be 3 inch (7.6 cm).
5. If it does not measure correctly, locate the
height-of-cut rod on the right side of the machine
(Figure 89).
6. Adjust the adjustment bolt until the blade tips match
3 inches (7.6 cm) (Figure 89).

Replacing the Grass Deflector
WARNING
An uncovered discharge opening could allow the
lawn mower to throw objects in the operator's or
bystander's direction and result in serious injury.
Also, contact with the blade could occur.
Never operate the lawn mower unless you install a
cover plate, a mulch plate, grass deflector or bagger.
