Ch. 9 • Hard Disk (PS1300 only)
In addition to the Floppy Disk drive, the PS1300 allows you to work with an on-
board Hard Disk. PS1300 has a 2.5" IDE type Hard Disk drive capable of
storing a large number of files (Songs, Presets, User Styles, Song Styles, Sam-
ples and Midi Files). The files are stored in Partitions : you can think of the Hard
Disk as being a large number of virtual floppy disks (partitions) which can be
accessed at high speed.
The Hard Disk functions
With the exception of the Utility function, the Hard Disk functions are identical to
those available when working with Floppy disks:
1. LOAD :
Loads data from a Hard Disk partition to RAM Memory.
2. SAVE :
Saves data from RAM memory to a Hard Disk partition.
3. DELETE :
Cancels files from a Hard Disk partition.
4. FORMAT :
Formatting procedure (total cancellation of a Hard disk
partition).
5. UTILITY :
Load Mode (Slow/Fast load options) and a set of Copy
functions for single files and entire Hard Disk partitions,
Hard Disk protection and H.D. formatting.
Files and File Types
The Hard Disk operations recognize the same files and file types as those de-
scribed in the Disk chapter of the User Guide. Refer to page 2.26 of the Disk
chapter for information regarding Files, how to recognize the various File types
and how the PS1300 Hard Disk handles files (single and multiple).
Access to the Hard Disk partitions
Access to the Hard Disk is via the DISK button. Press this button to gain ac-
cess to the Hard Disk functions.
Access to a Floppy Disk or the Hard Disk is shown in the display by the appear-
ance of a Disk icon and a symbol, depending on the device chosen.
Hard Disk mode
If you press the DISK button once with no disk inserted in the drive, the TEMPO
display area is temporarily replaced by the "Hd" symbol.
Floppy Disk mode
If you press the DISK button once with a disk inserted in the drive, the TEMPO
display area is temporarily replaced by the symbol "Fd".
If a disk is inserted in the drive, access to the Hard Disk is obtained by pressing
the DISK button TWICE to override the floppy disk.
Note: If a Floppy disk is already inserted in
the drive, pressing the Disk button gains ac-
cess to the Floppy Disk. To override the Floppy
and go directly into the Hard Disk, press the
Disk button a second time.
