Recording a Song Style

PS1000 allows you to record a simple 8 track song (Song Style) using a simple
recording method that uses existing Styles. In practice, the Song Style record-
ing can record from 1 to 3 real time tracks accompanied by all the backing
tracks of a Style to create an 8 track Song Style.
This is the quickest and most direct recording method.
1. Press the SINGLE TOUCH PLAY button to set the PS1000 for Style Play.
2. A Style will already be selected, but you can select any one using the Style
Groups selection buttons.
3. Press the RECORD button.
The sequencer activates and sets one or more of the three keyboard tracks
for the recording by flashing the REC icon above the section names. The
CHORD track will also activate (flashing), indicating that the relative track is
ready to receive chord information.
The Metronome icon also activates, but if you want to record without the
metronome, press the METRONOME button on the right of the control panel.
4. Press either START/STOP or PLAY/STOP to start the recording.
Pressing START/STOP starts the sequencer and triggers the auto accom-
paniments of the Style when you press a note or chord on the lower key-
board area. If you don't press a note, the drum track will start to play.
Pressing PLAY/STOP starts the sequencer and allows you to record the
keyboard track(s) only.
A metronome will beat time (drum sticks) and you will have a one measure
lead into the recording to get ready.
5. Start playing after the one bar lead.
Any notes you play during the lead-in will not be recorded.
During the recording, use the Style controls as you would when playing a
Style: use the Fills, change Variation, select another Style, etc.....
6. When you have finished, stop the recording either with PLAY/STOP or
START/STOP.
START/STOP stops the recording of the Chord events while the
sequencer continues to be active for the keyboard tracks.
PLAY/STOP stops the sequencer recording for both Chord and keyboard
track events.
7. Press RECORD or ESCAPE to escape the Sequencer.
The REC icons and the CHORD track stop flashing.
8. Listen to the Song Style playback by pressing PLAY/STOP.
Although PS1000 retains user-programmed data in the battery-backed RAM
memory after turning off, you can save recorded sequence data to floppy
disk for future use. The «Disk» chapter explains how to save data to Disk.
