7. Mooring with the engine tilted up

When the engine has been stopped and it
will not be used for a long time or when
mooring in shallow water, tilt the engine up
to prevent damage to the propeller and
gear case.

Disconnect the fuel connector from the
engine.

Set the Reverse Lock Lever on the star-
board side to "RELEASE" by turning it
downward.

Tilt the engine up entirely. The tilt will
lock in the raised position.
 Do not put hand or finger in between
outboard motor body and clamp bracket
when adjusting trim angle to prevent the
body parts from being caught in case
the outboard motor body falls.
 When tilting up outboard motor with fuel
joint for over a few minutes, be sure to
disconnect fuel hose or close fuel cock,
or fuel may leak, potentially catching
fire.

Do not tilt up outboard motor during opera-
tion, or engine may be damaged from over-
heating because of no feed of cooling
water.
