Some chainsaw kits come completely
assembled. If the chainsaw has been
packaged without the saw chain and
guide bar installed, see "replacing
the Bar and Chain" in this manual for
installation instructions. After removing
the chainsaw from its box, inspect it
carefully to make sure no damage has
occurred during shipping .
Some chainsaw kits come with metal
bucking spikes as an accessory. To install
the spikes, position on the front of the
saw with the spikes facing upward, then
fasten with the two supplied screws.
Inspect the chainsaw for missing parts.
If any parts are damaged or missing,
contact orEgon® powernow™ to obtain
replacement parts .

After unpacking the chainsaw, check
the position of the hand guard. The
chainsaw will not run with the chain
brake engaged. Pull the hand guard
back towards the front handle before
operation (Fig . 3) .

filling oil reservoir
Bar and chain oil is required to
properly lubricate the bar and chain.
Use OREGON® bar and chain oil for
best results. It is specially designed to
provide low friction and faster cuts.
nEvEr use oil or other lubricants not
specifically designed for use on the bar
and chain . this can lead to a clogged
oil system, which may cause premature
wear of the bar and chain.
place the chainsaw on its side on a firm,
flat surface, so that the oil cap is on
top (Fig. 4). After cleaning any debris
from the cap area, remove the cap and
carefully pour the bar and chain oil into
the reservoir. Replace the cap and check
the presence of oil through the oil
inspection window . additional bar and
chain oil is necessary when the reservoir
is dry, shortly after oil is no longer
viewable through the oil inspection
window .
