Introduction
In this chapter we will describe how to set up a video bridge between your Internet gateway and your set-top box using the
TG234. This is the main use case of the TG234 but you can also use it to establish a high-speed data bridge. The setup
procedure is identical, the only thing that you need to do is replace "set-top box" by any wired Ethernet device (for example
a NAS drive, computer).
MediaAccess Xtream Gateways
In this chapter we will often refer to the MediaAccess Xtream Gateway range. This a range of Technicolor gateways that has
an integrated video bridge access point.
If your Internet gateway is a MediaAccess Xtream Gateway, the product name on the product label will contain the word
"Xtream" (for example: MediaAccess TG799vn v2 Xtream).
What do I need?
To set up a video bridge you need:
One high-speed access point (MediaAccess Xtream Gateway or a TG234):
The access point will allow your Internet gateway to deploy its services over a 5 GHz wireless connection.
One or more TG234 stations:
The station allows your Ethernet device (your set-top box) to connect to this access point.
Optionally, you can also add a TG234 repeater to extend the range or improve the link quality of your access point.
Procedure
1 Set up the access point. If your Internet gateway is:
A MediaAccess Xtream Gateway, no actions are needed because these MediaAccess Xtream Gateways have a
built-in video bridge access point. Proceed with the next step.
Another type of (Technicolor) gateway, you have to connect one TG234 to your Internet gateway. This TG234 will
then work as video bridge access point.
2 Set up the TG234 repeater (if you purchased one).
For more information, see
3 Set up the TG234 stations.
Connect a TG234 to every set-top box that you want to wirelessly connect. These TG234s will work as video bridge
station. For more information, see
