Device S etup -­‐ T he " Connection S ettings" T ab
The Connection Settings tab allows administrators to determine exactly how the client goes
about looking for and connecting to available hosts. The client can be preset to connect to
specific server groups or configured to search for avaliable hosts within its network.
A " vSpace S erver s erver g roup" i s a c ollection o f o ne o r m ore i ndividual v Space S erver s ervers s pecified
by a n ame t hat i s c urrently d efined f rom i nside e ach L 300 d evice's s etup i nterface.
If a s erver g roup c ontains o nly o ne n ame ( or I P a ddress), t hen t he L 300 a ttempts t o c onnect t o t hat
server u ntil s uccessful o r u ntil t he L 300 i s r eset. I f t he s erver g roup c ontains m ore t han o ne n ame ( or I P
address), t he L 300 t ries t o c onnect t o t he f irst s erver i n t he l ist, a nd i f n o s uccessful c onnection i s m ade,
the L 300 a ttempts t o c onnect t o t he s econd s erver i n t he l ist ( i.e., t he d evice d oes a n " auto f ailover" t o
the n ext s erver). I f t he L 300 d oes n ot s uccessfully c onnect t o t he s econd s erver i n t he l ist, t he d evice
attempts t o c onnect t o t he t hird d evice i n t he l ist, e tc. W hen t he L 300 r eaches t he e nd o f t he l ist, i t
starts a gain a t t he b eginning o f t he " server g roup" a nd c ontinues u ntil a c onnection i s m ade o r u ntil t he
L300 d evice i s r eset. ( To a llow f or u nusual r equirements o r s erver w eighting a lgorithms, a n i ndividual
server n ame o r I P a ddress m ay e xist i n m ultiple p laces i n t he l ist.)
Whenever a n L 300 d isconnects f rom a s ession, a utoconnect ( if s et) b egins a t t he t op o f t he c onnection
cycle. T he d evice d oes n ot k eep t rack o f t he l ast s erver t o w hich i t s uccessfully c onnected. I ssuing a
device r eset c ommand f rom t he a dmin c onsole w ill a lso c ause t he a utoconnect p rocessing t o r estart a t
the t op o f t he c ycle.
